The synopsis isn't how the book reads. No character development and poorly presented dialogue. The plot makes little sense. The only details are in the sex scenes. Not worth the time it took to read the first half.
Unique well written story
Very enjoyable fun read written very well with good editing. Well paced plot with fleshed out characters Great historical mystery. Very descriptive writing paints the world in exquisite detail. Well worth the read.
Robot Army Rampage
Adorable fun read great for kids that's fun to read while also teaching in a fun way. Kids will have a blast building the robots and hours of fun playing with them long after the book has been read. I can see this going over really well in school libraries. A big thank you to the publisher for providing a free copy in exchange for a review.

Sullivan has a writing style that makes his books enjoyable for all readers. There's no romance detracting from a great fantasy, no high magic with a new language to learn. Sullivan paints the world beautifully.

The Crown Tower by Michael J. Sullivan
Excellent writing. Top notch. A definite page turner for those who are new to the Riyria series and a real treat to those who have loved Hadrian and Royce from the first book published. I loved the pace of the plot right up to the last page. Each character had a personality all their own. The world around them was described beautifully, making it easy to imagine everything.

Right from the start this book captivates the readers attention. Characters are introduced in such a way that is brief yet says volumes about each. Very well designed plot and fleshed out characters. This was very hard to put down. Everything written feels important and purposeful. No extra details or filler to detract from one very well written story. Well worthwhile read.
Interesting take on once familiar tales with an infusion of darkness making them fresh and very different and yet still familiar. Some are done better than the others but as a collection it's good. The writing is clean and well done with some beautiful imagery. Worthwhile read and certainly enjoyable as a whole.
High octane thriller full of the seemingly impossible being possible. Reminds me of Bourne, Reacher, Ethan Hunt types. Avoid if you don't enjoy such characters, grab a copy if you like them. Written like an adaptation from a movie with a few sentences needing a touch up but nothing too distracting. Familiar fast moving plot with a good cast of characters but with a more masculine feel.
Adorable story that will tug at your heartstrings. Well written with a smoothly flowing plot perfect for kids of all ages. The characters are well rounded and easy to connect with. The religious elements, while frequent, are not preachy or overdone. Easy to read and follow along.
Cleanly written and easy to read and enjoy. A few too good to be true instances but nothing too distracting. Just the right amount of backstory and building up for the intended audience. The plot picks up quickly and moves along at just the right pace to keep even easily distracted readers turning pages. Nicely detailed encounters and well handled magical elements. Each character feels thought out and layered. I enjoyed the manner in which they developed and worked together towards a common goal.
A mixed bag here with an enchanting tale and unique plot but it felt like the author was trying too hard. The characters were difficult to relate to or bond with as we are told nearly every moment of each day and are frequently reminded of the tragic points in Lyra's past (I lost count how many times the divorce was mentioned) only to suddenly have her swooning over Cullen. It felt like every detail had to be described which took away from the story. However, I loved the world building and the variety of creatures.
I loved the cover right off. The writing is very clean and easy to follow with just the right amount of detail. It was easy to connect to Richard as he tells his story, giving the reader insight to his thoughts and way of processing information. He felt very real, fleshed out and layered. I enjoyed his development and interactions with Cassandra, who also felt fleshed out and strong. The plot was captivating and well paced most of the way through except for the last bit which seemed hurried or just too easily wrapped up.
Riveting, exciting and eye opening. Intricate attention to details. Fleshed out characters, each unique and layered with realistic actions and reactions. Well constructed and planned out plot with an ideal pacing throughout. All this combines with a well written novel you will not want to put down. Even my "I'd rather watch the movie." Non-reader type son picked up this book and refused to return it until he read the whole thing. "I really liked how it was written and how detailed the scenes were. I could picture them easily in my mind. Best book ever."
Certainly a topic far from the norm or popular sort; credit is due for a novel nearly void of grammar mistakes and other typographical errors. The plot is interesting and holds plenty of potential, but overall it feels dispassionate. The characters lack fleshing out making them difficult to connect with and the choices they make are often a bit hard to swallow as natural to who they are. There is no passion, no gripping emotions to draw the reader in and keep them turning pages. While the world around the characters is presented in detail, there are several inconsistencies and an overall feeling of being a first draft instead of a finished novel. It was more out of mild curiosity that I finished the book.
